Cookie Policy

We keep our cookie use minimal and honest. Here's exactly what we use and why.

Last updated: March 22, 2026

🍪 Short version:We only use cookies that are necessary to make KidoMatch work and to understand how it's used in aggregate. We never use advertising cookies or share cookie data with ad networks.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use a web application. They help the app remember your preferences and understand how you interact with it. KidoMatch's native mobile apps use functionally equivalent technologies (device storage and identifiers) which are governed by this same policy.

2. Cookies We Use

We use three categories of cookies:

🔧 Essential Cookies (Always active)

These are required for KidoMatch to function. They cannot be disabled.

Cookie NamePurposeDuration
km_sessionMaintains your login sessionSession
km_csrfPrevents cross-site request forgerySession
km_prefsRemembers language and theme preferences1 year

📊 Analytics Cookies (Optional)

Help us understand how features are used so we can improve the app. All data is anonymous and aggregated. No child usage data is ever included in analytics.

Cookie NamePurposeDuration
km_anon_idAnonymous session identifier for analytics90 days
km_perfPerformance and error tracking (Sentry)30 days
🚫 We do NOT use: advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, third-party retargeting cookies, or any cookies that identify or track children.

3. Third-Party Cookies

KidoMatch uses a small number of trusted third-party services that may set their own cookies on the web version of the app:

  • Stripe — Payment processing. Sets cookies to detect fraud and ensure secure transactions.
  • Sentry — Error monitoring. Sets an anonymous session ID to track technical errors.
  • Cloudflare — Security and performance. Sets cookies to distinguish humans from bots.

None of these third parties receive any child usage data. Their cookies only operate on the parent-facing account and billing pages.

4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can control cookies in several ways:

  • Cookie Banner: When you first visit kidomatch.com, you can accept or decline optional analytics cookies.
  • Account Settings: Go to Settings → Privacy → Cookie Preferences to change your choice at any time.
  • Browser Settings: All major browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent login from working.
  • Opt-Out Tools: You can opt out of Sentry analytics at sentry.io/privacy.

5. Cookies and Children

The child-facing sections of KidoMatch (the actual game) use zero cookies. Game progress is stored in your account server-side, not in browser cookies. Children's devices are not tracked, profiled, or identified via any cookie or equivalent technology.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove third-party services. Changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Significant changes will be communicated via email.
