Welcome, Parents! 👋
KidoMatch was built by parents, for parents. We know you're trusting us with your most precious people — and we take that seriously. This guide walks you through everything from first setup to advanced tips for maximising the learning benefits.
Getting Started in 5 Steps
📲 Download the App
Available free on the App Store and Google Play. Also works in any web browser at kidomatch.com.
👤 Create Your Account
Sign up with your email. You control the account — your child never needs to enter any personal information.
🧒 Add a Child Profile
Choose a fun nickname and avatar. No real name required. Set their age so we can suggest the right starting deck.
🎮 Pick a Starting Deck
We recommend Animals for ages 3–5, and Letters or Numbers for 5–8. They can explore everything once they're warmed up.
⏱️ Set a Timer (Optional)
Use your device's built-in screen time tools to set a daily limit. We suggest 20–30 minutes for the best learning outcomes.
Safety Features Built-In
You shouldn't have to do anything special to keep your child safe on KidoMatch. Safety is the default — not a settings menu you have to find.
Zero Ads
We never show advertisements of any kind inside KidoMatch. Ever.
No Push Notifications
We don't send notifications to your child's device to pull them back in.
No External Links
KidoMatch cannot navigate to any website or app outside itself.
No Social Features
No chat, no friend lists, no user-generated content of any kind.
No In-App Browser
There is no browser inside KidoMatch — period.
Transparent Data
View and delete your child's data at any time in Settings → Privacy.
Parental Controls
Access all parental controls from Settings → Parent Zone (requires your PIN):
- Session Timer: Set a maximum play time per day. The app gently winds down when time is up.
- Deck Restrictions: Hide specific decks or difficulty levels if they're not age-appropriate yet.
- Progress Reports: See daily, weekly, and monthly summaries of what your child matched and how long they played.
- Purchase Lock: Require your fingerprint or PIN before any in-app purchase can be made.
- Profile Switching Lock: Prevent children from switching to another child's profile.
Screen Time Recommendations
- Ages 3–4: 15–20 minutes per day, always with a parent present.
- Ages 5–7: 20–30 minutes per day. Co-play a few times per week to keep it social.
- Ages 8–12: Up to 45 minutes per day. Encourage them to try harder difficulty levels independently.
- Always take a break between game sessions — the memory consolidation happens during rest!
- Use the 'Today's session' summary in the app to start conversations about what they matched.
Tips for Maximum Learning
- Play together sometimes: Co-playing 2–3 times a week dramatically increases vocabulary acquisition as you narrate the cards.
- Let them struggle: Resist the urge to hint. The productive struggle of trying to remember is where the real learning happens.
- Celebrate effort, not just wins: Praise them for trying hard, not just for finding matches quickly.
- Connect cards to real life: When they match the banana card, ask what their favourite banana recipe is. Context deepens memory.
- Switch difficulty: Once a deck feels easy, bump the difficulty. Growth happens at the edge of comfort.
